Benebone Lends a Paw to Ewing Home Construction

Tuesday, September 14, 2021

The incredibly passionate employees at Benebone have been itching to get out on the construction site since Day 1 of their partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Burlington and Mercer Counties.  Months of preparation and communication have brought the two organizations together at the home build site in Ewing, New Jersey, and now that the home in Ewing has been placed on its foundation, volunteer days have officially begun.

The tight knit team at Benebone has employees spread out from coast to coast, with individuals traveling to the work site from California, Georgia, Massachusetts and everywhere in between.  Everyone is excited to lend a hand this week and help take on major projects like laying floors, installing trim, and building decks.

“I am really looking forward to having our Benebone Team working Tuesday 9-14-21 at the site of new Habitat Home for Jasmine and her Children.  We are a family company and we will be all there as the Benebone Family that day working on a home for a need family.  We are blessed to have the opportunity to do this act of kindness.” says Jim Toolan, Benebone.

Benebone volunteers are not just eager to swing a hammer, they’re also delighted to meet and work alongside the Ewing home’s future Habitat Homeowner.  Jasmine is a hardworking mom and resident in nearby Trenton, who will soon purchase the home in Ewing. She’s just as ready as the Benebone team to put in her sweat equity and make her dream of homeownership a reality.

This home is special for so many reasons, and Habitat is endlessly thankful to have built this relationship with Benebone which has led to the company sponsoring the construction of this home in Ewing, from the foundation to the front door. This build is no random happenstance, either! The neighborhood is located very close to birthplace of Peter Toolan, who is one of Benebone’s founding partners. Peter, along with his father Jim Toolan, founded Benebone in 2012 and have led the company to much success through their growing line of durable chew products for dogs. Now, they’re determined to give a local family the “paw-up” they need to build a brighter future for themselves, their family, and their furry loved ones.

The remaining work on the home is expected to be complete in just a few short months thanks to the hard work and dedication of Benebone and Habitat. Soon, The Leonard Family will have a safe place to call home with a new, affordable house built by the hearts, hands, and hammers of their community.
